Senior Regulatory Reporter

Location: Beijing or Shanghai, China; on-site with domestic and international travel required

What you will do

• Cover Chinese government policy and regulatory developments, focusing on merger control and antitrust reviews of large publicly traded companies.
• Report on foreign direct investment, outbound investment, and national security review processes.
• Conduct investigative interviews by phone and in person, while developing and maintaining domestic and international sources.
• Break market-moving news and deliver exclusive insights on high-profile global transactions.
• Coordinate with Dealreporter and PaRR journalists worldwide on reporting and analysis.
• Produce in-depth analytical and commentary-driven features under deadline pressure.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in financial or legal reporting, preferably covering mainland China.
• Fluency in Mandarin and the ability to cultivate and maintain Chinese-language sources.
• Excellent English writing skills for producing clear, accurate, and compelling copy.
• Sophisticated understanding of competition policy and its impact on business and markets.
• Strong investigative, interviewing, analytical, detail-oriented, persistent, and resourceful skills.
• Ability to work under deadline pressure and collaborate with journalists across the globe.
