Program Manager, Massed Modular Aircraft (Aerospace)

Location: El Segundo, California, United States; onsite role. Willingness to travel 20–30% to customer sites, test ranges, and manufacturing or integration facilities.

Salary: $230,000–$330,000 base compensation per year, excluding bonuses, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of an autonomous Massed Modular Aircraft program contracted through the Defense Innovation Unit.
• Own program cost, schedule, technical performance, P&L, risk registers, Integrated Master Schedules, and technical baselines throughout the lifecycle.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams across systems engineering, airframe, aerodynamics, guidance, propulsion, payloads, avionics, software, manufacturing, quality, testing, and logistics.
• Lead customer program reviews, technical interchange meetings, milestone reviews, and executive status reporting.
• Oversee requirements decomposition, design reviews, integration, flight and static testing, production readiness, configuration management, and technical data packages.
• Manage government contract performance, supply-chain and subcontractor execution, proposal support, export controls, safety approvals, and test campaigns.

Requirements

• At least 15 years of program or project management experience in defense or aerospace, including direct aircraft program management.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
• Strong knowledge of Earned Value Management Systems, Integrated Master Schedule development, and risk management.
• Experience with FAR/DFARS contract types, including CPFF, CPIF, and FFP, and with government customer program offices.
• Leadership, negotiation, executive communication, and cross-functional Integrated Product Team management skills.
• Ability to travel 20–30% and comply with applicable defense, export-control, security, airworthiness, and range-safety requirements.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or MBA.
• PMP certification.
• Foreign Military Sales or international program execution experience.
• Experience with digital engineering and model-based acquisition.
• Previous experience as a Chief Engineer, Deputy Program Manager, or Integration Lead.
• Ability to obtain or maintain Secret, Top Secret, or SCI clearance.
