Medical Economics Analyst (Healthcare Analytics)

Location: West Los Angeles, California, USA; hybrid schedule with in-office work required Monday through Wednesday and remote work available Thursday and Friday.

Salary: $110,000–$125,000 per year, with a possible discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Analyze medical, pharmacy, clinical, financial, and eligibility data with SQL and analytical tools.
• Develop forecasting models, cost projections, trend analyses, and scenarios for health plan budgeting and strategy.
• Translate healthcare data into recommendations for plan design, cost management, clinical programs, and employee health outcomes.
• Build financial, clinical, and utilization metrics and reporting frameworks to monitor plan performance.
• Evaluate health plan, vendor, and clinical program performance, including financial impact, outcomes, utilization, member experience, and ROI.
• Lead cross-functional analytical projects and prepare executive-ready presentations with key insights and recommendations.

Requirements

• 4+ years of healthcare data analytics experience working with medical and/or pharmacy claims data.
• Experience analyzing large healthcare datasets and identifying cost, utilization, and performance trends.
• SQL proficiency and experience with Power BI, Tableau, SSRS, or similar reporting and visualization tools.
• Experience with financial modeling, forecasting, trend analysis, or healthcare cost analysis.
• Understanding of healthcare cost and utilization drivers, with the ability to communicate findings to senior leaders and non-technical stakeholders.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Nice to have

• Experience with self-funded employer populations, health plans, payers, TPAs, PBMs, benefits consulting, or healthcare analytics organizations.
• Knowledge of employer-sponsored benefits, health plan design, healthcare benchmarking, or clinical program evaluation.
• Master’s degree in a related field.
