Building Maintenance Technician (Healthcare)

Location: San Diego, California, United States. Onsite role at 13112 Evening Creek Drive South, with travel to additional patient service centers as needed.

Salary: $17.25–$30.00 per hour, plus a 10% second-shift differential.

What you will do

• Provide facility maintenance for laboratory and office areas, including lighting, furniture setup, carpet repair, painting, and preventive maintenance.
• Adjust, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on laboratory and office equipment.
• Respond to internal maintenance requests, manage electronic work orders, and maintain accurate records of inspections and repairs.
• Use hand, power, and machine tools while ensuring facilities remain functional, aesthetically pleasing, and compliant with safety standards.
• Collect and document controlled lab waste, including solvents and infectious waste.
• Support maintenance engineers with planned, preventative, and reactive site maintenance and travel to additional patient service centers for minor repairs.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of building maintenance or related experience, plus 3 years of experience in other professional or technical roles.
• Computer skills for managing electronic work-order tickets and strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, provide customer service, and work overtime or rotating on-call coverage when required.
• At least 21 years of age, a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Nice to have

• High school diploma.
• Vocational training or certification in facilities maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, or a related field.
• Experience in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or construction trades.
• Experience with forklifts, cherry pickers, pallet jacks, or mobile elevated work platforms.

• Tuesday through Saturday schedule from 12:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., with additional days and hours potentially required.
