Senior Full Stack Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid, with two days per week in the San Francisco office every Tuesday and Wednesday. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

Base pay: $130,000–$180,000 per year, excluding bonus, benefits, and other compensation.

What you will do

• Define the multi-quarter technical roadmap for the AI & Innovation team across backend, frontend web clients, APIs, data models, and technical debt.
• Lead complex cross-team technical initiatives and translate ambiguous, high-stakes business goals into technical strategies, designs, and experiments.
• Build and scale AI-driven features and Node.js services for client discovery, service description, booking, and financial infrastructure.
• Champion Spec-Driven Development with AI tooling, turning precise specifications into resilient implementations and comprehensive test suites.
• Establish engineering rigor through testing, observability, alerting, documentation, and operational excellence.
• Mentor engineers and act as a JavaScript subject-matter expert across the organization.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience across frontend and backend development.
• Extensive experience with Node.js, microservice architecture, and async or event-driven systems such as Kafka.
• Strong SQL and data-modeling skills with PostgreSQL and Snowflake.
• Experience designing and owning observability and alerting for critical systems.
• Mastery of building, debugging, and scaling distributed systems, with experience handling systems involving money and trust.
• US work authorization without employer visa sponsorship is required; the role requires in-office attendance in San Francisco two days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with Spec-Driven Development and hands-on AI tools.
• Experience rebuilding legacy software systems.
• Familiarity with Ruby on Rails and microservice or event-driven architectures at scale.
