TL;DR
Quantum Compute Simulation Scientist (Quantum Computing): Developing large-scale simulations of superconducting-qubit systems and quantum error-correction schemes with an accent on microscopic qubit parameters, gate error rates, and fault-tolerant logical qubit overheads. Focus on modeling qubit devices, analyzing low-temperature DC and RF measurements, collaborating with metrology and quantum error-correction researchers, and communicating results through papers, reports, and visualizations.

Location: San Jose, California, United States; onsite at the San Jose Great Oaks Headquarters

Salary: $184,500–$246,000 per year

Company

hirify.global develops data storage infrastructure for AI-driven data systems, hyperscale data centers, cloud platforms, and enterprise environments.

What you will do

  • Lead research projects involving large-scale simulation of superconducting multi-qubit systems.
  • Implement quantum error-correction schemes, including distillation, across distributed networks of superconducting qubits.
  • Analyze how qubit population lifetimes, gate error rates, and other microscopic parameters affect fault-tolerant quantum computing overhead.
  • Develop theoretical and empirical models for superconducting-qubit devices and microscopic parameters.
  • Collaborate with room-temperature and low-temperature DC/RF metrology scientists, quantum error-correction theorists, and product teams.
  • Prepare reports, visualizations, research papers, and conference presentations.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Coursework background in condensed matter physics, quantum field theory, and quantum error-correction control theory.
  • Experience with quantum simulation platforms including PennyLane, TopQAD, scqubits, and SQuADDS.
  • Strong understanding of superconducting-qubit design theory and experience building or using simulation tools.
  • Experience simulating low-temperature DC and RF measurements of qubit devices.
  • Programming proficiency in Python, Rust, TCL, or C, with knowledge or willingness to learn FPGA-based microcontrollers.

Culture & Benefits

  • Research-focused role involving collaboration across engineering, metrology, information theory, and product teams.
  • Opportunities to publish research and present at academic and industry conferences.
  • Paid vacation and sick leave.
  • Medical, dental, vision, life, accident, and disability insurance.
  • 401(k), health savings and flexible spending accounts, tuition reimbursement, transit benefits, employee stock purchase plan, and other voluntary benefits.
