Staff Product Designer (Fintech)

Location: Remote in the United States; remote work is defined as being 35 miles (56 kilometers) or more from a Stripe office. Regular work from home is expected, with occasional office meetings, on-sites, meet-ups, and events. Stripe does not cover relocation to a remote location.

Annual US base salary: $191,300–$286,900. Additional compensation may include equity, company bonuses, a 401(k) plan, medical, dental, and vision benefits, and wellness stipends.

What you will do

• Define the design direction for new Checkout features and surfaces across the conversion funnel.
• Lead visual and interaction design explorations from initial concept through launch.
• Evolve visual language, component patterns, and the design system supporting Checkout.
• Shape early product strategy through design exploration and rapid prototyping with product and engineering partners.
• Represent Checkout in senior reviews and establish the creative bar for new product directions.

Requirements

• 8+ years of relevant experience at a technology or product-driven company.
• Deep fluency in visual design, interaction design, systems thinking, and prototyping with AI tools.
• Experience leading complex work in close partnership with product management, engineering, and design leadership.
• Experience shaping ambiguous problem spaces and creating clarity through design.
• Confidence presenting work to senior leaders and communicating design decisions through clear storytelling.
• Ability to work remotely from the United States under Stripe's remote-location policy.

Nice to have

• Experience leading changes to a design system.
• Experience explaining design processes and decisions to cross-functional stakeholders and using feedback to improve the work.
• Background in SaaS, e-commerce, or fintech products.
