Principal Product Designer (Fintech)

Location: United States; remote or hybrid candidates accepted, with an East Coast preference. Hybrid work is centered around offices in New York, NY or the Charlotte area. Must be able to work Eastern Standard Time hours.

Total cash compensation: $120,000–$180,000 per year, including target bonus. Equity is offered separately.

What you will do

• Define and advocate for a long-range consumer experience vision using concepts, principles, and buildable prototypes.
• Make high-level decisions about brand and consumer experience implementation and lead large-scale projects independently or with other designers.
• Coordinate generative discovery with the Lead Consumer Researcher and ensure research findings influence product decisions.
• Build and evolve design and UX copy systems, including their documentation, code connections, and exposure to agentic tools.
• Drive cross-functional consumer innovation with product and engineering teams.
• Mentor designers and improve design workflows, tooling, standards, and organizational capabilities.

Requirements

• Portfolio demonstrating organization-level impact on product strategy or team operations across multiple teams.
• Experience setting a long-range consumer vision and demonstrating shipped outcomes based on it.
• Background in fintech, startups, or consumer advocacy.
• Experience conducting or directing generative discovery and collaborating with dedicated researchers.
• Technical fluency with codebases, agentic tools, component systems, shadCN, Tailwind, Next.js, GitHub, and code prototyping.
• Experience building or rebuilding a production design system, with strong craft, accessibility, systems thinking, and mentoring skills.
