Clinical Laboratory Technologist (Medical Technology)

Location: Rochester, Michigan, United States of America; onsite at Henry Ford Rochester. Shift 3 schedule: 11:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m., five 8-hour shifts per week with rotating weekends.

What you will do

• Evaluate specimen acceptability and assist with specimen processing.
• Perform routine and complex technical laboratory procedures according to standard operating procedures.
• Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation.
• Prepare, test, and evaluate reagents and controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to support patient care.
• Perform preventive maintenance, quality control, documentation, and supply replenishment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical science, biological science, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology, or an MLS degree.
• At least one year of clinical laboratory testing experience, unless qualified through an MLS degree.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems and proficiency with computers.
• Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test and work overtime or other shifts when needed.

Nice to have

• ASCP or AMT certification.
• Non-traditional degree with applicable science credits meeting CLIA standards may satisfy the education requirement.
