Medical Laboratory Scientist for Cancer Center-Full-time Days (Medtech)

Location: Based at the Cancer Center in Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb, Illinois, with floating assignments to the Delnor Cancer Center in Geneva and the Huntley Cancer Center. Full-time, 40 hours per week, day shift.

Salary: USD 34.00–52.70 per hour.

What you will do

• Perform pre-analytic, analytical, and post-analytic clinical laboratory workflows.
• Receive, label, process, prepare, store, and transfer patient specimens according to protocols.
• Perform laboratory tests, evaluate and interpret results, complete reflex testing, and report critical values.
• Maintain instruments, reagents, supplies, quality control records, and test system integrity.
• Troubleshoot testing and workflow problems, escalate unresolved issues, and meet established turnaround times.
• Support SOP updates, test validation and implementation, staff and student training, billing accuracy, safety, and patient confidentiality.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related qualifying field.
• General MLS or MT ASCP certification, eligibility, or qualifying categorical BB, C, H, or M ASCP certification.
• Candidates hired after January 19, 2025 must obtain ASCP or equivalent certification within one year of employment.
• Ability to follow laboratory SOPs, regulatory standards, safety procedures, and quality system requirements.
• Ability to use laboratory instruments, computers, and laboratory information systems accurately.
