Medical Laboratory Scientist (Hematology)

Location: 251 E. Huron, Chicago, IL, United States; evening shift

Salary: USD 34.00–52.70 per hour

What you will do

• Perform pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic laboratory workflows for hematology testing.
• Receive, label, evaluate, process, aliquot, store, and transfer patient specimens according to established procedures.
• Perform testing, review and interpret results, complete reflex testing, and report critical or abnormal findings.
• Maintain instruments, reagents, supplies, quality control records, and test system integrity.
• Troubleshoot unresolved orders, workflow issues, test system problems, and pending results, escalating when required.
• Support result reporting, documentation, charge capture, staff training, SOP review, and new test validation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a qualifying allied health field.
• General MLS or MT ASCP certification, eligibility, or an accepted categorical BB, C, H, or M ASCP certification.
• Candidates hired after January 19, 2025 must obtain ASCP or equivalent certification within one year of employment.
• Ability to follow laboratory SOPs, safety procedures, quality standards, confidentiality requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
• Ability to work onsite in Chicago on the evening shift.
