Software Development Engineer II (AI)

Location: Hybrid within 35 miles of Burlington, NC or Durham, NC, with at least three in-office days per week. Standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EDT.

Salary: $110,000–$150,000 annually, plus eligibility for an annual bonus.

What you will do

• Lead software development projects from conception through deployment, support, monitoring, and maintenance.
• Design and implement flexible, reusable, efficient, and adaptable software systems.
• Conduct code reviews and uphold software quality standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with product, platform, stakeholder, and cross-functional teams to deliver solutions.
• Identify and resolve complex technical issues and contribute to architecture and technology roadmaps.
• Deliver team goals on time while connecting technical work to business needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years of software development experience.
• Strong foundation in software design principles and demonstrated ability to deliver maintainable code.
• Expertise in Python or another high-level, interpreted, object-oriented programming language.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Ability to work the required hybrid schedule near Burlington or Durham, North Carolina.

Nice to have

• Experience building agentic AI workflows and multi-agent systems.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Redis, message queues, workflow orchestrators, and storage systems such as NAS, NFS, and S3.
• Experience with AWS or Azure, CI/CD, microservices, Agile methodologies, and maintainable, debuggable, observable APIs.
