Software Engineer III (AI/ML)

Location: San Mateo HQ, United States; hybrid work options available; in-person orientation required for all new hires

Salary: $114,000–$202,000 per year, plus potential incentives

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable microservices and APIs powering AI capabilities across cloud insurance solutions.
• Develop Generative AI pipelines with LangChain, LlamaIndex, and MCP-based integrations for context-aware reasoning and action orchestration.
• Integrate and operationalize models from providers such as OpenAI and Anthropic in collaboration with ML engineers and data scientists.
• Design and deploy ML models for predictive insights, anomaly detection, and automated decision-making.
• Build and extend MCP servers and define MCP-compliant interfaces for LLM tools, context, and state.
• Align AI workloads with enterprise standards for security, reliability, scalability, and performance in AWS and Kubernetes environments.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with AI/ML and backend platform development exposure.
• Strong proficiency in Python, TypeScript, or JavaScript.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, RAG, ReAct, agent-based reasoning, and MCP server integrations.
• Knowledge of LLM APIs, multi-model orchestration, API design, microservices, event-driven systems, OAuth2, JWT, PostgreSQL, or DynamoDB.
• BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with additional AI/ML frameworks or cloud platforms.
• Exposure to insurance technology or enterprise SaaS environments.
• Open-source AI/ML contributions and experience with ethical AI and governance practices.
