Diagnostics Software Engineer (AI/ML)

Location: Milpitas, California, United States; occasional travel to global sites and customer locations up to approximately 10%

Base pay: $136,300–$199,900 annually

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain LabVIEW-based and multi-language software for diagnosing and calibrating reticle inspection platforms.
• Translate system-level and user requirements into software designs, implementations, and test plans.
• Build AI/ML and generative-AI applications using LLMs, agents, copilots, and automation to improve diagnostics, calibration, engineering productivity, and data analysis.
• Prototype AI-driven proofs of concept, evaluate their impact, and mature successful solutions into production-ready tools.
• Improve reliability, maintainability, performance, and scalability while building and maintaining CI/CD workflows.
• Collaborate with physicists, hardware, subsystem, system, manufacturing, and service teams; support integration, deployment, and root-cause analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Physical Science, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, Optics, Microscopy, or a related field.
• 4+ years of software development experience, or 2+ years with a Master’s degree, in medium- to large-scale applications and multi-developer environments.
• Object-oriented design experience and proficiency in one or more additional languages such as Python, C++, or C#.
• Hands-on experience building applications with LLMs or generative AI, including fine-tuning, RAG, agentic frameworks, or AI API and copilot integrations.
• Experience with CI/CD tools and practices, hardware-software interaction, system-level behavior, technical specifications, and complex problem solving.
• Strong communication, collaboration, ownership, and accountability skills in globally distributed teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with diagnostics, calibration, machine control, inspection, or metrology systems.
• Experience in semiconductor capital equipment or other complex hardware platforms.
• Familiarity with computer vision, image processing, or image analysis.
• Certified LabVIEW Developer credential or equivalent experience.
