TL;DR
Senior Software Engineer (Performance) (Scala/Python): Modernizing and extending legacy internal tools, services, and APIs that support high-revenue business projects with an accent on reliability, correctness, performance, and maintainability. Focus on making architectural trade-offs, improving observability and testing, and taking ownership of critical components while mentoring engineers and collaborating with stakeholders.
Location: Remote in Mexico, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, or Argentina

What you will do
- Design, build, and maintain internal tools and services, primarily within legacy systems.
- Contribute to architectural decisions and incrementally modernize existing platforms.
- Deliver reliable, correct, and performant solutions for high-revenue projects.
- Collaborate with engineering and business stakeholders to understand needs and communicate progress.
- Improve code maintainability, testing, observability, and technical documentation.
- Participate in code reviews, mentor engineers, and share technical knowledge.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping production software.
- Experience with software architecture, system design, and technical trade-offs.
- Experience working with and improving legacy codebases.
- Strong programming fundamentals and the ability to learn new languages and tools quickly.
- Experience with Scala and/or Python, and with building services or APIs for engineers or internal teams.
- Strong communication skills and confidence working on high-visibility projects.
Nice to have
- Experience with legacy system modernization or migration efforts.
- Familiarity with AWS or GCP, containers, and CI/CD pipelines.
