TL;DR
Senior Backend Engineer (Python) (FastAPI/Flask/Azure): Evolving and scaling cloud-based backend services, APIs, and orchestration workflows with an accent on framework migration, API lifecycle management, and distributed processing. Focus on building queue-based workers, designing run lifecycle APIs, and improving reliability, performance, testing, CI/CD, and observability.

What you will do
- Migrate backend services from Flask to FastAPI to improve maintainability, performance, and scalability.
- Design, document, and maintain API specifications across integrations.
- Evolve orchestration flows from API requests through multirun processing and Optim-core integration.
- Build queue-based workers on Azure Container Apps and reduce dependencies on Azure Machine Learning Studio.
- Develop run lifecycle APIs, article swap endpoints, and results persistence mechanisms.
- Maintain automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and reliable communication across distributed services.
Requirements
- Strong backend software engineering experience with Python.
- Hands-on experience with FastAPI and Flask, including API development and framework migration.
- Experience designing, documenting, and maintaining API specifications and service integrations.
- Understanding of asynchronous processing, queue-based architectures, background workers, and distributed systems.
- Experience with Azure, cloud-based application deployment, automated testing, CI/CD, and production observability.
- Ability to work autonomously, make sound technical decisions, and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.
Nice to have
- Experience with Azure Container Apps and containerized workloads.
- Familiarity with Azure Machine Learning Studio and its integration with backend services.
- Experience decoupling tightly coupled services and migrating to asynchronous, queue-based processing.
- Knowledge of monitoring, logging, tracing, and production troubleshooting.
- Experience with multi-service orchestration workflows and processing runs.
