Electrical Engineer (IoT Hardware)

Estimated base salary: $155,000–$215,000 per year, excluding benefits and potential equity.

What you will do

• Lead board bring-up, validation, rework tracking, and root-cause debugging across circuits, firmware integration points, and full-system behavior.
• Own production-intent electrical design, including schematic capture, PCB layout, component selection, and design for manufacturability.
• Design and validate multi-rail power architectures, sensing systems, and mechatronic platforms.
• Design hardware with UL, ETL, FCC, EU, and Canada certification requirements in mind.
• Contribute to design reviews, EVT/DVT/PVT readiness, and prototype-to-production transitions.
• Partner with mechanical, firmware, controls, science, operations, product, ODM, contract manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, and component-sourcing partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of hands-on experience developing production hardware products through bring-up and validation.
• Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium or an equivalent tool.
• Experience with microprocessors, sensor integration, motor control, embedded systems, and AC power safety.
• Ability to independently bring up and debug hardware using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, multimeters, thermal imaging, and data acquisition equipment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to drive ambiguous technical problems to closure with limited oversight.

Nice to have

• Python and embedded C/C++ for test automation, data analysis, and prototype firmware.
• High-power appliance, commercial equipment, or industrial product development experience.
• UL, ETL, FCC, CE, or IC certification experience, including pre-compliance testing, EMI debugging, and certification laboratory management.
• Thermal system design, safety architecture, industrial protocols such as Modbus, RS-485, or CAN, and embedded compute platforms such as Jetson or Raspberry Pi CM.
• Startup experience.
