Electrical Engineering Manager (Photonics)

Location: Niwot, Colorado, with a hybrid work arrangement. The role primarily operates in an office, laboratory, and manufacturing environment.

Salary: $120,000–$177,000 base salary annually, depending on experience.

What you will do

• Lead the electrical engineering team through research, conceptual design, prototyping, development, documentation, and product launch.
• Own electrical architectures and solutions for contamination-monitoring instruments combining electromechanical systems with embedded software.
• Recruit, onboard, coach, mentor, evaluate, and develop electrical engineers and designers.
• Define electrical engineering competencies, standards, tools, processes, staffing plans, and technical roadmaps.
• Ensure DFMEA, risk analysis, ISO Quality Management System compliance, and design rigor across commercialization projects.
• Coordinate schedules, risks, costs, and performance with project managers, product line managers, functional managers, and business leaders.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 10 years of experience developing complex electrical and electromechanical designs for research and new product development.
• At least 5 years of functional management or lead experience.
• Experience with schematic capture, PCB layout CAD tools such as Siemens Xpedition/PADS or Altium, SPICE simulation, circuit modeling, configuration management, and hardware release processes.
• Knowledge of laboratory equipment, international standards, EMC, ISO, CE, ETL, and IEC 61010 requirements.
• Experience with project management, stage-gate and Agile product development, risk mitigation, technical writing, analytical problem solving, and cross-functional leadership.

Nice to have

• Photonics and high-sensitivity detection experience, including laser-based optical systems, photodetectors, low-noise analog circuits, and ADC/DAC signal conditioning.
• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience with particle counting, analytical instrumentation, or precision measurement products.
• PMP, Six Sigma, DFSS, Lean, continuous improvement, or failure analysis experience.
• Experience leading multi-site or distributed teams and third-party development partners.
