Clinical Lab Assistant II-Part-time Evenings

Location: Central DuPage Hospital, 25 N. Winfield Rd., Winfield, Illinois, United States. Part-time, 20 hours per week, evening/second shift.

Salary: $20.80–$28.08 per hour

What you will do

• Receive, register, process, distribute, and transport laboratory specimens, including reference-laboratory referrals.
• Enter and retrieve results in laboratory and hospital information systems, including Epic, and maintain accurate documentation.
• Perform phlebotomy, specimen collection, waived and moderate-complexity testing, microbiology setups, and other preparation duties.
• Verify instruments and test kits, perform quality control and maintenance, operate laboratory automation, and troubleshoot issues.
• Communicate specimen rejections, critical or notifiable results, outstanding orders, and corrective actions to appropriate personnel.
• Coordinate with laboratory staff, nurses, providers, ancillary departments, couriers, and reference laboratories to support patient care.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• At least one year of experience in a general laboratory, specimen processing, or phlebotomy area, or enrollment in a laboratory-related education program.
• Ability to complete biological transport training and maintain competency.
• Ability to recognize temperature-dependent transport requirements and maintain appropriate specimen and supply conditions.
• Availability for a part-time evening shift of 20 hours per week at the Winfield hospital location.

Nice to have

• Phlebotomy certification or training from an accredited school or institution.
