Robotics Software Engineer (Space)

Base salary: $110,000–$160,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain perception software for autonomous rovers and robotic spacecraft.
• Develop stereo vision, LiDAR, visual-inertial odometry, hazard detection, mapping, and localization algorithms.
• Build sensor-fusion pipelines combining camera, LiDAR, IMU, RF, and navigation measurements.
• Implement feature detection, image registration, optical flow, point-cloud processing, motion control, path planning, and behavior-control systems.
• Optimize robotics software for embedded ARM processors, GPUs, and FPGAs, and integrate algorithms into flight-software architectures.
• Develop simulation tools, sensor models, automated testing, and HIL/SIL verification frameworks.

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Aerospace, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience developing algorithms for challenging real-world problems; advanced degrees may substitute for experience.
• Familiarity with modern C++ and Python.
• Background in robotics, sensor processing, and guidance, navigation, and control systems.
• Technical knowledge of computer vision, 3D point-cloud processing, state estimation, sensor fusion, or SLAM.
• Must be a U.S. Person under applicable ITAR and EAR requirements and eligible to obtain required export authorizations.

Nice to have

• MS or PhD in Computer Science or a related field.
• Production software experience in a Linux environment.
• Experience field-testing and troubleshooting complete robotic systems.
• Experience with camera, LiDAR, radar, IMU, and GPS sensors, as well as GIS, map projections, and digital elevation models.
• Experience training and deploying deep-learning models for AI/ML applications.
