TL;DR
Senior Space Flight Software Engineer (Aerospace): Develop reliable C++ flight software that controls spacecraft, satellite buses, and reentry capsules throughout complete missions with an accent on embedded processors, real-time systems, and safety-critical software. Focus on capturing requirements, making design trades, integrating and validating flight software, and supporting spacecraft operations.

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. The role requires employees to be authorized to work in the United States and qualify as a U.S. person for access to export-controlled technology.

Salary: $169,067–$216,031 per year, plus potential stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

hirify.global develops commercial space infrastructure, including in-orbit pharmaceutical processing payloads, reentry capsules, heat shields, and satellite buses.

What you will do

  • Develop reliable flight software controlling spacecraft, satellite buses, and reentry capsules throughout complete missions.
  • Build structured bare-metal, RTOS, and Linux-based software for embedded processors in C++.
  • Own software design, testing, integration, verification, and validation.
  • Capture requirements and perform initial design trades for open-ended spacecraft problems.
  • Collaborate with the team to communicate, troubleshoot, and solve technical problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, or equivalent technical experience in safety-critical software.
  • 5+ years of experience developing spacecraft or similar safety-critical software.
  • Strong C++ development experience and understanding of core language concepts.
  • Experience with real-time embedded systems and safety-critical software, preferably in aerospace.
  • Experience with CCSDS telemetry and telecommand systems.
  • U.S. work authorization and U.S. person status are required for access to export-controlled technology.

Nice to have

  • End-to-end experience building and launching a spacecraft.
  • Experience with the F' or cFS framework.
  • Experience with Python or Rust.
  • Knowledge of analog and digital electronics and familiarity with SPI, I2C, CAN, or EtherCAT.
