Senior Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in San Carlos, California, with 3+ days per week onsite; remaining days may be worked remotely. All work must be performed in the United States.

Salary: $173,000–$225,000 base salary annually, plus equity.

What you will do

• Design, build, and deploy robotic and embedded software for advanced pilot assistance systems.
• Develop autonomy features and subsystems from implementation through deployment, prioritizing reliability and performance.
• Write, test, and maintain production-quality Python and C++ across autonomy, systems, and embedded components.
• Integrate software with hardware, sensors, perception systems, and data-ingestion pipelines.
• Optimize software for edge-compute environments, including latency and resource usage.
• Participate in testing, validation, design reviews, code reviews, and deployment of safety-critical systems.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience designing or building robotic software and/or embedded systems, or equivalent project, internship, or coursework experience.
• Production-quality programming experience in C++ and/or Python.
• Experience with real-time or interactive systems supporting time-sensitive decisions.
• Exposure to autonomy systems such as planning, decision-making, reasoning, and sensor or perception pipelines.
• Experience with embedded or edge-compute platforms and hardware/software debugging.
• Must be a U.S. Person and able to perform all work in the United States; visa sponsorship and visa transfers are not available.

Nice to have

• Experience with safety-critical or mission-critical aviation or robotics systems.
• Exposure to ROS or DDS.
• Interest in human-in-the-loop systems, simulation environments, or real-time control systems.
• Background or strong interest in autonomy, robotics, or advanced mobility.
