Lead Systems Engineer, Ground Systems (Aerospace)

Location: Successful candidates must be located near Denver, Colorado, or Long Beach, California, United States.

Base salary: $160,000–$235,000 for Staff level or $195,000–$285,000 for Principal level, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Own systems engineering execution for a satellite command-and-control ground system within the Mosaic portfolio.
• Define mission objectives, operational concepts, system requirements, and space-to-ground interface control documents.
• Lead requirements definition, decomposition, verification, validation, integration planning, and end-to-end testing.
• Direct system trade studies, architecture assessments, performance analysis, and mission readiness activities.
• Coordinate cross-functional hardware and software teams, mission operations, customers, stakeholders, and government agencies.
• Lead engineering and failure review boards while driving risk mitigation and contingency planning.

Requirements

• 12+ years of full-lifecycle ground control systems experience for Staff level or 15+ years for Principal level.
• Experience leading ground systems programs through design, test, verification, deployment, operations, and sustainment.
• Experience with space-to-ground systems, Type 1 encryption, antenna-as-a-service solutions, and command-and-control signal chains.
• Experience with deployment, integration, and ATO support under the RMF and NIST SP 800-53 security controls.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for DoD TS/SCI or TS/SAP clearance; ITAR authorization requirements apply.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in Aerospace, Electrical, or Systems Engineering.
• Expertise with Model-Based Systems Engineering, range certification, test readiness reviews, and safety boards.
• Active TS/SCI clearance and experience with defense or classified satellite ground systems.
• Experience working with DoD, NASA, government agencies, prime contractors, or subcontractors.
