Sr. Program Systems Engineer

Location: Hawthorne, California; onsite

Salary: $150,000–$180,000 per year

Astrolab designs and builds lunar systems and hardware, including rovers, power systems, and data networks for sustained operations on the Moon.

What you will do

• Integrate vehicle, delivery system, NASA, and ground-system elements against program requirements and mission objectives.
• Conduct program-level technical and programmatic trade studies covering vehicle hardware and software, mission planning, and ground systems.
• Coordinate with Mission Operations, software, engineering, and NASA counterparts across lunar transit, lander deployment, checkout, hibernation, and crewed campaign phases.
• Lead or review scenario-based analyses for power, energy, data volume, and surface productivity.
• Develop and execute verification and validation activities, including integrated system and external interface testing.
• Identify, quantify, and mitigate phase-level program risks.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field.
• 5+ years of experience with spacecraft telecommunications, Guidance Navigation & Control, power, and flight software systems.
• Experience working on cross-functional engineering projects involving multiple technical disciplines and subject-matter experts.
• Experience developing V&V plans, conducting system-level trade studies, developing requirements, and managing risks.
• Proficiency with at least one requirements management system.

Nice to have

• Experience with robotic systems, rovers, or human-rated spacecraft.
• Spacecraft development and operations experience, including early operations and checkout activities.
• Hardware-in-the-loop testing and ownership of major systems engineering products.
• Expertise in one or more spacecraft subsystems and experience with Monte Carlo simulations.
• Experience with Python and MATLAB.
