Systems Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: NASA Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, Mountain View, California, United States. Onsite role with travel as needed.

Salary: $130,000–$150,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead technical development, tasking, customer satisfaction, and technical performance tracking for projects and missions.
• Develop and manage system requirements, verification and validation activities, technical processes, procedures, and templates.
• Define system architectures, functional block diagrams, system interfaces, key performance parameters, and configuration management practices.
• Develop systems engineering and management plans, concepts of operations, integration and test plans, schedules, and technical reports.
• Identify, communicate, track, and mitigate technical risks and resolve project issues.
• Coordinate with government representatives, contractors, industry partners, project managers, scientists, engineers, and technical staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in systems engineering, engineering, or an equivalent technical field.
• 3–5 years of systems engineering experience, or a combination of technical area leadership and systems engineering experience.
• Experience as a technical lead with system-level responsibilities.
• In-depth familiarity with systems engineering approaches, procedures, and processes.
• Ability to translate project needs, goals, and objectives into technical solutions and present concepts, data, and recommendations to diverse audiences.
• Ability to pass a federal background check and work onsite at NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, California.

Nice to have

• NASA or industry spaceflight experience.
• Experience across mission and project phases from concept through operations.
• Experience with Confluence, JIRA, or Box.
• Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering.
• Experience assigning work and managing personnel and tasks, plus strong customer relationship management skills.
