Underwriter - Hybrid

Location: Hybrid role based in Scottsdale, Arizona, United States

Salary: USD $69,000–$89,000 per year

What you will do

• Underwrite and process assigned renewal policies, applying coverage forms, rating plans, pricing guidelines, and underwriting standards.
• Quote, accept, decline, modify, and renew risks within assigned authority and territory.
• Respond to agent inquiries, adjust policy information, and communicate underwriting decisions and appetite.
• Collaborate with agents, AMS, internal teams, and other departments to grow and maintain a profitable book of business.
• Analyze territory and agency profitability, monitor premium retention, and cross-sell additional coverage and services.
• Conduct coverage and system training, support continuous improvement, and visit agencies as needed.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of front-line commercial underwriting experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and workflow management skills.
• Ability to build effective relationships with internal and external customers, peers, and management.
• Proficiency with desktop tools, automated underwriting systems, and email systems.
• Valid state-issued driver's license in good standing and ability to drive for company travel required.
• College degree, AU, AINS, or other insurance coursework preferred.
