Senior Safety Specialist

Location: South Plainfield, New Jersey, United States; on-site

Salary: $95,000–$115,000 per year for US-based candidates

What you will do

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve workplace safety programs, policies, and procedures in line with OSHA and applicable regulations.
• Conduct safety audits, job hazard analyses, workplace inspections, and incident investigations, including root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Track and report safety metrics such as TRIR, LTIR, and near-misses, using data to recommend improvements.
• Design and deliver training covering hazard communication, PPE, lockout/tagout, confined-space entry, emergency response, and new-hire orientation.
• Oversee regulated and biohazard waste programs, safety documentation, OSHA records, emergency preparedness, and on-site security.
• Partner with operations, engineering, HR, Workers’ Compensation, and leadership on safety, facility, injury, and compliance matters.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years of progressive occupational health and safety experience, preferably in laboratory, pharmaceutical, logistics, or related environments.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA and relevant ANSI, NFPA, and EPA standards.
• Experience with incident investigations, root-cause analysis, safety management software, and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to train and influence employees at all levels.
• Ability to work in industrial, warehouse, or construction environments, including walking, standing, climbing, occasional lifting up to 50 lbs, and using appropriate PPE.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with ergonomics assessments and behavior-based safety.
• Ability to travel between sites when required.
