TL;DR
Advanced Propulsion - Senior Power Converter Design and Analysis Engineer (Electric Vehicles): Designing and developing next-generation accessory power modules and on-board charging modules for electric vehicles with an accent on converter architectures, high-voltage hardware, efficiency, power density, reliability, and manufacturability. Focus on modeling switching, thermal, control-loop, fault, and system behavior, validating prototypes in high-voltage laboratories, and solving complex EMC/EMI, safety, supplier, and cross-functional integration challenges.

Location: Warren, Michigan; hybrid, with onsite work required 3 times per week. The role is not eligible for relocation benefits, and GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship.

Company

hirify.global develops automotive technologies and electric vehicles with a focus on zero crashes, zero emissions, and zero congestion.

What you will do

  • Develop converter architectures and power-stage concepts for accessory power modules and on-board charging modules.
  • Create schematics, power-stage designs, control-board interfaces, electrical interfaces, and production-intent design documentation.
  • Build and analyze steady-state, transient, switching, control-loop, thermal, loss, fault, current-sharing, and system-interaction models.
  • Plan and execute prototype builds, hardware bring-up, bench testing, debugging, characterization, and design iterations in high-voltage laboratories.
  • Lead design reviews, worst-case and derating analyses, DFMEA, fault-tree analysis, design-verification planning, and technical risk reduction.
  • Collaborate with controls, embedded software, suppliers, product engineering, manufacturing, vehicle integration, and other cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power electronics and at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and developing DC/DC or AC/DC converters.
  • Strong knowledge of converter topologies, switching devices, magnetics, gate drives, control methods, protection circuits, and power losses.
  • Experience with derating, worst-case, loss, thermal, EMC/EMI, and design-for-reliability analyses.
  • Hands-on experience with high-voltage laboratory equipment, oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and electronic loads, plus modeling tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, PSIM, or LTspice.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future GM immigration sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field.
  • Experience with SiC, GaN, IGBT, soft switching, multilevel converters, planar or integrated magnetics, or embedded power modules.
  • Experience with vehicle charging, accessory power, PCB design, electrical CAD/CAE, thermal simulation, or automated test and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with ISO 26262, ASPICE, GMW requirements, charging standards, and automotive high-voltage safety practices.
  • Experience leading advanced-technology projects, supplier development, technical workgroups, or cross-functional engineering teams.

Culture & Benefits

  • Hybrid work arrangement with regular onsite collaboration.
  • Benefits and total rewards designed to support employee well-being at work and at home.
  • Inclusive workplace focused on belonging, equal opportunity, and meaningful contributions.
  • Opportunities to contribute to electric-vehicle technology and vehicle programs.

Hiring process

  • Applicants may complete role-related assessments and pre-employment screening where applicable.
