TL;DR
Electrical Engineer (Test & QA) (Maritime Sensing): Testing and troubleshooting electrical boards, assemblies, and buoy systems with an accent on hardware quality, failure diagnosis, and custom integrations. Focus on building repeatable test procedures, root-causing electrical issues, supporting harness and PCBA development, and verifying power, communications, and performance in deployed systems.

Location: Full-time onsite from the Torrance, CA office. Candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, protected individuals, or eligible to obtain required export authorizations without sponsorship. Relocation to the Torrance area is considered.

Salary: $95,000–$120,000 per year base salary, plus potential equity and benefits.

Builds sonar and sensing systems for maritime autonomy, defense, and ocean applications, covering development from physics and hardware through perception and product.

What you will do

  • Own electrical testing for boards, subassemblies, and complete buoy systems.
  • Build and improve repeatable test procedures, track results, and identify quality trends.
  • Troubleshoot electrical failures, diagnose root causes, and verify corrective fixes.
  • Partner with electrical designers, technicians, and manufacturing teams to resolve build issues.
  • Support harness builds, drawings, documentation, and progressively take on PCBA design revisions.
  • Build and test custom hardware integrations while verifying subsystem power, communications, and performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field.
  • Hands-on electrical experience through coursework, projects, internships, or student engineering teams, including at least one project that can be explained in detail.
  • Ability to read schematics and use multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ownership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to work full-time onsite in Torrance, California.
  • Eligibility to access U.S. export-controlled information without sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Experience with schematic capture or PCB layout tools.
  • Board bring-up or hardware debugging experience.
  • Wire harness design, builds, or drawings.
  • Python or similar scripting for test automation.
  • Participation in robotics, SAE, or similar student engineering teams.
