People Systems Manager (Workday)

Location: Hybrid for candidates within commuting distance of Vercel offices in San Francisco, New York, London, or Berlin, with in-office anchor days on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday; fully remote beyond the predetermined commuting distance.

Base salary: $167,000–$204,000 annually in San Francisco; compensation may be adjusted based on employee location.

What you will do

• Own Workday configuration, security architecture, Business Process Framework design, and governance.
• Partner with integration engineers to connect Workday with Slack, internal applications, and other tools.
• Establish role-based security, segregation of duties, change management, and audit controls for SOX, SOC 2, and public-company readiness.
• Configure and optimize People operations processes covering equity, commissions, one-time payments, and clawbacks.
• Define data governance, reporting architecture, calculated fields, validation, and data quality standards.
• Manage releases, regression testing, configuration changes, audit evidence, and remediation.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on Workday HCM experience across security, business processes, reporting, and core configuration.
• Strong knowledge of Workday security architecture, security groups, business process policies, approvals, and segregation of duties.
• Experience building Workday configuration standards, governance frameworks, and scalable business processes.
• Experience implementing Workday security, governance, and internal controls for SOX compliance and audit readiness.
• Experience with calculated fields, advanced and composite reports, data validation, reporting governance, and interconnected HR technology environments.

Nice to have

• Experience with Workday Payroll, equity, commission payments, or complex compensation processes.
• Experience scaling People Systems infrastructure at a high-growth technology company or preparing for an IPO.
• Experience using AI or automation to improve administration, data quality, controls, or operational efficiency.
