Process & Mechanical Engineering Team Lead

Location: On-site at offices in Rochester, NY and/or Rush, NY; willingness to travel to client sites and suppliers, typically 25%

Base salary: $106,563–$159,845 per year, plus potential annual incentive and/or long-term incentives

What you will do

• Lead the day-to-day operations, workload allocation, and resource planning of the process and mechanical engineering team.
• Provide hands-on engineering support, technical guidance, and design review leadership for process and mechanical builds.
• Manage performance, coaching, professional development, recruiting, hiring, and onboarding.
• Support project execution, estimating, scope definition, resource planning, and delivery within schedule, budget, and quality targets.
• Identify engineering risks, bottlenecks, and capacity constraints, and develop mitigation plans.
• Collaborate with project management, design, engineering, and leadership teams to improve standards, workflows, and scalability.

Requirements

• 7–10+ years of experience in chemical, process, and/or mechanical engineering, preferably in an engineering services or industrial environment.
• Strong understanding of engineering workflows, workload balancing, departmental capacity planning, and labor-hour estimation for process engineering activities.
• Experience estimating engineering design project costs and communicating technical project requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organization, independent working, and team management skills.
• Strong design skills using AutoCAD 2D/3D; SolidWorks experience is preferred.
• Ability to work on-site at offices in Rochester, NY and/or Rush, NY, and willingness to travel to client sites and suppliers, typically 25%.

Nice to have

• Experience leading and mentoring technical teams, conducting interviews, onboarding employees, and delivering performance evaluations.
• Experience designing industrial equipment and/or automation solutions.
• Experience with ISO 9001 or a similar quality system.
• Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
