Process Engineer (Sheet Metal Manufacturing)

Location: Los Angeles, California, United States; on-site. Relocation support may be provided in certain situations based on business need.

Salary: $106,000–$181,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Analyze BOMs, CAD models, drawings, and other engineering data to classify sheet metal parts into process families.
• Develop cycle-time estimates, process routings, and production strategies for complex parts.
• Define requirements for cutting, forming, welding, finishing, inspection, staffing, equipment, factory layout, and quality assurance.
• Specify tools, jigs, fixtures, and inspection equipment.
• Collaborate with design, operations, quality, customers, and external stakeholders to validate assumptions and align execution.
• Own process definition from part intake through production ramp, including schedule recovery, manufacturability improvements, and risk mitigation.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in sheet metal manufacturing or process engineering.
• Strong knowledge of flat pattern development, bend allowances, and GD&T.
• Experience with laser, plasma, or waterjet cutting; forming; spot, GMAW, and GTAW welding; and finishing.
• Experience developing process routings, tooling and fixture designs, and quality plans including FAI, SPC, and MSA.
• Clear communication, documentation, and project planning skills.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain the authorizations required under ITAR regulations.

Nice to have

• Experience launching new production lines or greenfield operations.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with NDT, weld qualifications, and special processes.
• Background in automation, robotics, or advanced inspection techniques.
• Experience with sheet metal punching or punch-laser combination machines.
