Mechanical Engineer, Product Design (Robotics)

Location: On-site at the Santa Clara, California headquarters, United States

Annual base salary: $190,000–$210,000 USD, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Design system-critical mechanical hardware, including structures, enclosures, electromechanical packaging, thermal management, and environmental protection.
• Own mechanical designs from concept, analysis, and CAD through prototype builds, testing, validation, root-cause analysis, and iteration.
• Translate product and engineering requirements into robust, manufacturable designs with hardware, safety, test, manufacturing, and supplier teams.
• Develop hardware for commercial and specialized robotic systems that is thermally sound and ready for field use.
• Occasionally travel to support engineering and product development activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• At least 3 years of hands-on mechanical product design experience.
• Proficiency with mechanical CAD; SolidWorks experience is preferred.
• Experience designing complex electromechanical systems, assemblies, enclosures, or mechanical packaging.
• Strong knowledge of materials, tolerances, GD&T, and structural or thermal design, plus experience with prototyping, testing, troubleshooting, and design iteration.
• Must meet all U.S. person status requirements at the time of hire and maintain this status throughout employment.

Nice to have

• 5+ years of mechanical design experience and experience with rugged industrial equipment, robotics, material-handling equipment, outdoor electromechanical systems, or other complex products.
• Experience with environmental sealing, ingress protection, thermal validation, temperature, shock, vibration, or thermal cycling.
• Experience with FEA, CFD, or other engineering analysis tools.
• Experience with hazardous-location hardware, explosion-protected equipment, or regulated industrial environments; familiarity with Class/Division, IECEx/ATEX, IEC/UL 60079, or UL 1203 standards.
• Hands-on experience with prototyping, fabrication, and shop tools.
