Senior Legal Counsel - Product & Commercial (Fintech)

Location: London / EU; based out of the UK or Malta offices. Hybrid working with flexible hours.

What you will do

• Advise Product, Engineering, Compliance, Regulatory, Banking, Marketing, Finance, HR, and other global teams on financial services, payments, outsourcing, privacy, intellectual property, employment, financial crime, disputes, and corporate governance matters.
• Support the development of new products and embedded payment propositions by identifying legal risks and providing strategic advice.
• Draft, review, and negotiate service contracts, outsourcing agreements, SaaS agreements, payment services agreements, and other complex commercial documentation.
• Review marketing materials for legal and regulatory compliance, required disclosures, intellectual property protection, and risk mitigation.
• Conduct legal research on cryptocurrency, payments, blockchain, and related regulatory frameworks.
• Work with the hirify.global and Mastercard legal teams on global business-as-usual activities and legal operations.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience as a qualified lawyer in-house, at a top law firm, and/or in a government agency.
• Familiarity with UK and EU financial services laws and regulations, including payments; blockchain and digital assets experience is preferred.
• Strong experience drafting and negotiating agreements with customers, partners, and suppliers, including complex payment services agreements.
• Experience with intra-group outsourcing and corporate law matters.
• Strong communication, collaboration, legal risk assessment, and stakeholder management skills.
• Must be based out of the UK or Malta offices.

• Experience advising on product development at fast-moving technology companies.
• Experience with corporate governance, employment matters, disputes, and litigation.
• Good understanding of cryptocurrency and fintech legal frameworks, or a strong interest in blockchain technology.
