What you will do

• Analyze the Census Bureau technical environment and deliver an operational and technical solution architecture aligned with government requirements.
• Design integrated business, application, data, technical, and security architectures, including interfaces with government systems such as CHEC and CAMPIN.
• Define secure data exchanges, transaction validation, Interface Control Documents, and Interconnection Security Agreements.
• Architect fingerprint capture, facial photography, badge production, inventory, shipment tracking, onboarding, document workflows, and secure transmission platforms.
• Design elastic scale, high availability, continuity of operations, geographically separate processing environments, load balancing, and failover.
• Maintain architecture artifacts and requirements traceability, chair technical reviews, represent the solution in governance forums, and evaluate auditable AI or machine learning features with human oversight.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related field.
• 12+ years of IT experience, including at least 7 years as a solution or enterprise architect on federal systems.
• Hands-on experience architecting cloud-hosted systems in FedRAMP-authorized environments, such as AWS GovCloud or Azure Government.
• Experience with secure file transfer, APIs, VPN interconnections, ISAs, FIPS 140 validated encryption, PKI authentication, and PII exchanges.
• Working knowledge of ANSI/NIST-ITL, FBI EBTS, and FBI-certified livescan devices.
• Ability to obtain a Department of Commerce Background Investigation and Census Special Sworn Status.

Nice to have

• Experience with FBI-approved channeling solutions, FBI Rap Back, or SaaS fingerprint processing platforms.
• Experience with identity management, credentialing, biometric enrollment, badge production, or card production systems.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or TOGAF certification.
• Experience with ServiceNow, Salesforce, Pega, or similar case management and low-code platforms.
