Senior Project Manager (Substations)

Location: Hybrid (remote/office) in Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom; projects cover the UK and Ireland.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of project professionals.
• Oversee the full lifecycle of substation projects from planning through execution and delivery.
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, quality standards, risks, and change control.
• Build effective relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Forecast costs, control budgets, prepare financial reports, and protect project margins.
• Maintain accurate project documentation in line with internal and client requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, preferably electrical or mechanical engineering.
• Experience managing complex engineering projects, ideally in energy, power transmission, or substation construction.
• Experience supervising professional employees and developing project teams.
• Knowledge of formal project management methodologies, including PMI standards.
• Commercial experience covering budgeting, financial reporting, and stakeholder negotiation.
• Strong project and process management, risk management, and resource allocation skills.
