Deputy Project Manager (Power T&D)

Location: Based in the Inverness area of Scotland, United Kingdom; hybrid and remote working may be available where relevant.

What you will do

• Support the Project Manager in delivering multi-million-pound transmission and distribution projects across design and construction phases.
• Manage and monitor project scope, schedule, cost, risk, quality, resources, hours, budgets, and spending.
• Coordinate the design interface between engineering and project delivery while maintaining stakeholder clarity and assurance.
• Lead project planning, progress reporting, kick-off meetings, client meetings, and project documentation.
• Manage relationships with stakeholders, customers, contractors, suppliers, and sponsors, including negotiating changes and reviewing quotes.
• Support resourcing and workforce planning, lead a small project team, and identify delivery issues early.

Requirements

• Relevant technical education or equivalent demonstrable experience.
• Proven experience delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget, including transmission and distribution project design and budgets.
• Experience with project planning, progress tracking, cost estimation, data analysis, stakeholder management, contract models, and project reporting.
• Strong persuasion, negotiation, communication, organisational, problem-solving, and initiative-taking skills.
• Knowledge of quality assurance, document control, KPI setting, operational handover, legal and ethical requirements, and design safety standards.

Nice to have

• Experience working with NGED, SSEN, NGET, or similar transmission and distribution network operators.
