TL;DR
Research Associate, Analytical Technical Operations (Biotechnology): Executing analytical testing and generating CMC development data across Moderna’s pipeline with an accent on chromatography, molecular biology, biophysical characterization, and laboratory automation. Focus on operating and troubleshooting LC systems, qPCR instruments, plate readers, and liquid handlers while delivering reliable data with rapid turnaround times.

Location: 100% onsite at hirify.global’s Technology Center campus in Norwood, Massachusetts, United States

Salary: $63,200–$100,900 per year, plus potential bonus, incentive compensation, or equity award

What you will do

  • Prepare samples, execute analytical testing, and perform routine data analysis with rapid turnaround times.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot UPLC/HPLC, LC/MS, LC/CAD, qPCR, DLS, plate readers, and liquid handlers.
  • Perform peer data review, support result interpretation, and communicate findings to process development colleagues.
  • Support high-throughput workflows, method troubleshooting, laboratory operations, and method optimization.
  • Contribute to laboratory efficiency initiatives and maintain accurate, compliant experiment documentation.
  • Follow laboratory safety protocols and standard operating procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in analytical biochemistry, chemistry, chemical engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related scientific discipline.
  • 0–2 years of experience in analytical chemistry, process development, technical operations, or a related laboratory environment.
  • Foundational knowledge of chromatography and analytical characterization techniques.
  • Knowledge of good laboratory practices and documentation standards.
  • Strong organization and the ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities.
  • Ability to work onsite in Norwood, Massachusetts, and comply with applicable U.S. export-control access requirements.

Nice to have

  • Experience with IEX and RP chromatography using UV, MS, or CAD detection.
  • Experience with ELISA, qPCR, or DLS.
  • Exposure to Hamilton, Tecan, or Echo laboratory automation platforms.
  • Experience with Chromeleon or similar LC software, QuantStudio, LIMS, ELN, and Microsoft Office.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, detail-oriented experience in a fast-paced cross-functional environment.
