Staff Software Engineer (Fintech)

Location: New York City, New York; in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week

Base pay: $230,000–$270,000 USD annually for Zone 1, including New York, NY.

What you will do

• Define and lead large-scale initiatives improving backend frameworks, tooling, and shared libraries.
• Design long-term technical solutions for scalability, reliability, and maintainability across backend services.
• Guide the evolution of static analysis, formatting systems, and service scaffolding.
• Partner with infrastructure, security, and product engineering teams on platform improvements.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance on code quality, system design, and development practices.

Requirements

• Extensive experience building and scaling backend systems with Go and Python.
• Deep knowledge of Django, gRPC, or comparable Go backend frameworks.
• Experience designing internal platforms, developer tooling such as Bazel, or shared infrastructure used by multiple teams.
• Ability to lead complex technical projects and influence engineering direction across teams.
• Commitment to improving developer workflows, system quality, and maintainability through thoughtful design.
• Availability to work from the New York City office with at least 3 days of in-person attendance per week.
