Staff Product Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote within eligible US locations, with the option to work from home, an office, or a hybrid setup depending on role and location restrictions.

Base salary: $135,000–$160,000 annually, with eligibility for bonus, equity, and comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits. Actual compensation depends on location and experience.

What you will do

• Own a developer workflow, tool, or user problem from discovery and design through implementation, rollout, adoption, and eventual iteration or retirement.
• Interview engineers, product managers, and designers; analyze support tickets, usage data, and CI logs; and identify the most valuable problems to solve.
• Design and prototype user experiences, including flows, states, empty states, and error handling, using Figma or code.
• Build developer-facing products such as TypeScript and React interfaces, backend services and APIs, CLIs, terminal UIs, GitHub Apps and Actions, Harness pipeline templates, and Atlassian or Figma integrations.
• Apply AI through agent workflows, MCP servers, context and tool design, evaluations, human review points, cost and latency budgets, and guardrails.
• Measure adoption and outcomes, earn adoption through pilots and documentation, and turn successful solutions into reusable building blocks.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, excluding internships, with a history of shipping software that users chose to adopt.
• Experience leading a complex project from unclear requirements through launch while coordinating across teams and making scope and implementation trade-offs.
• Strong expertise in at least one relevant area, such as TypeScript and React or Go, Python, Java, or Rust, with the ability to work across adjacent layers.
• Experience building developer-facing software such as CLIs, internal platforms, SDKs, CI/CD tooling, or IDE integrations.
• Ability to reason about LLM-based capabilities, failure modes, human review, interaction states, accessibility, and clear technical documentation.
• Ability to work remotely from eligible US locations; compensation and location eligibility vary by US labor market.

Nice to have

• Experience with Harness, GitHub Actions, Buildkite, or comparable CI/CD systems and release orchestration at scale.
• Experience integrating Jira, Confluence, GitHub, or Figma APIs or building applications within those products.
• Production experience with agent frameworks, MCP servers, retrieval, evaluation systems, DORA, SPACE, or DevEx measurement.
• Experience with terminal UI frameworks such as Bubble Tea or Textual, design systems, or internal developer portals such as Backstage.
