Principal Machine Learning Engineer (AI)

Salary: $187,395.25–$253,534.75 annually

What you will do

• Lead AI initiatives from business idea through validated proof of concept and enterprise adoption.
• Partner with business leaders, product managers, and technical teams to identify opportunities and define measurable outcomes.
• Architect and build AI proof-of-concepts using LLMs, agentic workflows, retrieval-augmented generation, data pipelines, APIs, cloud-native services, and enterprise platforms.
• Evaluate feasibility, data readiness, integration, user experience, security, compliance, performance, cost, and operational requirements.
• Define scalable architectures, reusable components, documentation, and handoff materials for product and platform teams.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship while guiding architecture and delivery decisions.

Requirements

• Doctorate with 2 years, master's degree with 6 years, bachelor's degree with 8 years, associate's degree with 10 years, or high school diploma/GED with 12 years of Machine Learning Engineer experience.
• Substantial experience in machine learning and software engineering, including ownership of applications progressed beyond prototypes or pilots.
• Strong full-stack development skills, including Python, APIs, application back ends, user interfaces, and data integration.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and DevOps practices including Terraform or similar infrastructure as code, containers, CI/CD, automated deployment, and observability.
• Practical knowledge of generative AI application design, model selection, evaluation, inference, and implementation trade-offs.
• Experience with enterprise architecture, secure handling of sensitive data, AI evaluation, automated testing, technical leadership, mentorship, and cross-functional collaboration.
