M&A Reporter (Fintech)

Location: New York, hybrid working model. Work abroad is available for up to 3 months per year.

Salary: $88,000–$160,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Shape M&A coverage through deal scoops, market analyses, and commentaries.
• Cover the full sponsor-backed deal lifecycle, from advisor mandates through exit.
• Identify and break M&A stories while maintaining a strong content pipeline.
• Collaborate with editors, data teams, product teams, sales, and marketing.
• Participate in industry events and moderate conference panels.
• Mentor junior journalists and provide editorial support and knowledge.

Requirements

• Established source network and a track record of breaking M&A scoops.
• Strong news judgment and the ability to recognize scoop potential and pitch proprietary stories.
• Portfolio of thought-provoking analyses in the relevant area of expertise.
• Comfort working with data and finding stories within it.
• High standards of accuracy in reporting and writing.
• Ability to question authority, navigate bias, receive feedback, and communicate issues proactively.
