Content Editor (SEO)

Location: Remote in the United States; Chicago listed as the location.

Salary: $60,000–$70,000 annually.

What you will do

• Act as the final editorial approver for assigned client copy, reviewing strategy, brand voice, tone, structure, readability, and content effectiveness.
• Optimize content for on-page SEO and GEO, including keyword integration, internal linking, meta titles, and meta descriptions.
• Fact-check names, statistics, claims, dates, and references, ensuring accurate sourcing and publication-ready quality.
• Provide actionable editorial feedback and coaching to writers while collaborating with managers, designers, and content teams.
• Edit Digital PR assets such as press pitches, data studies, expert commentary, survey reports, and media-facing content.
• Manage deadlines, utilization goals, AI editing tools, Grammarly, and content quality initiatives.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in content editing, digital publishing, journalism, content marketing, public relations, and an agency environment.
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong command of AP style.
• Experience editing long-form guides, thought leadership content, comparison posts, trend reports, infographics, and SEO-driven articles.
• Strong understanding of SEO fundamentals, organic growth, content performance, and editorial recommendations.
• Experience reviewing PR content, managing multiple client projects, and meeting competing deadlines.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, project management, and organizational skills in a fully remote environment.

Nice to have

• Four-year degree in English, journalism, or a related field.
• Experience with SEO tools, content optimization platforms, Google Workspace, and project management systems.
• Experience editing data journalism and translating statistics into compelling stories.
• Experience collaborating with design teams on UX and content presentation.
• Background editing content in health, legal, finance, SaaS, technology, or consumer industries.
