Director, Software Engineering - Dev Ops (AI)

Location: Mountain View, California, United States

Base pay: $308,000–$417,000 annually, with potential cash bonus, equity rewards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead operational excellence and platform modernization across QuickBooks and IES, supporting 99.99% availability across more than 500 business-critical assets.
• Oversee data infrastructure, data engineering, reliable pipelines, aggregations, warehouse architecture, and trusted data platforms.
• Direct database engineering and administration, including schema design, performance, scaling, availability, governance, and operational readiness.
• Transform developer productivity through AI-assisted engineering, automation, shared platforms, CI/CD modernization, quality systems, and scalable tooling.
• Drive enterprise-wide operating-model change across engineering, product, data, design, security, infrastructure, finance, and business operations.
• Build and develop a leadership team while connecting platform health and modernization investments to customer growth and business impact.

Requirements

• Experience leading large-scale engineering or development organizations responsible for business-critical platforms and production health.
• Deep technical judgment across distributed systems, cloud-native architecture, data infrastructure, transactional databases, and platform operations.
• Experience with service-level objectives, incident management, observability, capacity planning, resiliency engineering, and modernization roadmaps.
• Strong understanding of data pipelines, data aggregation, warehouse design, governance, and data architecture.
• Experience improving engineering workflows through automation, AI-assisted development, CI/CD, testing, deployment, and developer enablement.
• Ability to lead complex transformation, develop managers and technical leaders, and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
