Director, Software Engineering, Product Engineering

Location: United States offices in Bellevue, Los Angeles, Palo Alto, or San Francisco; expected to work in an office 4+ days per week.

Base salary: $284,000–$500,000 annually, depending on pay zone, location, skills, experience, and qualifications. The position is also eligible for RSUs.

What you will do

• Lead, manage, mentor, hire, and develop software engineers and engineering leaders.
• Set the technical vision, strategy, roadmap, and measurable goals for a product engineering area.
• Partner with Product, Design, Data Science, Operations, and Engineering leaders to define requirements and deliver high-quality experiences.
• Design, implement, and scale backend services, distributed systems, client applications, and data platforms.
• Drive execution across product launches, architecture investments, platform capabilities, and engineering excellence.
• Set standards for availability, scalability, performance, privacy, security, operational excellence, and cost management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent practical experience; advanced technical degrees may substitute for some experience.
• 10+ years of post-bachelor’s software development experience, or an equivalent advanced-degree pathway.
• 5+ years of experience as an engineering manager or technical leader setting technical direction.
• Experience architecting, designing, and developing distributed systems and business-critical products at significant scale.
• Experience leading, mentoring, and scaling engineering teams delivering complex, high-impact work.
• Strong programming and software design skills, with experience in one or more modern languages such as Java, C++, Go, Python, Swift, Kotlin, or JavaScript.
