Senior Software Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Remote, any location in Canada

Salary: CAD 149,600–199,600 per year in Alberta, British Columbia, and Ontario; CAD 134,600–184,600 per year in other Canadian locations.

What you will do

• Own end-to-end systems design for key scanning engine components, from initial design through deployment and iteration.
• Build and operate Python and Go services for internet-wide and customer-specific scanning workflows.
• Improve performance, scalability, reliability, and observability for large-scale distributed scanning workloads.
• Translate scanning and detection requirements into production-ready systems and APIs with security, product, and data teams.
• Diagnose complex production issues and contribute to scanning platform architecture and roadmap decisions.
• Mentor engineers through design feedback, pairing, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• Senior-level experience building backend or systems-level services.
• Proficiency in Python or Go, with the ability and willingness to work in both languages.
• Experience designing distributed or highly available services, including scalability, reliability, and observability.
• Hands-on experience with scanning, detection, data-processing, or similar high-throughput engine-like systems.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, concurrency, performance optimization, testing, static analysis, and code reviews.
• Experience with cloud-native environments, microservices, containers, CI/CD, monitoring, and logging.

• Cybersecurity domain knowledge, especially endpoint scanning.
