Software Engineer II, Backend (Decisions Orchestration)

Location: Remote within Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan, Canada

Base pay per year: $133,000–$183,000 CAD

What you will do

• Design and implement APIs and microservice interfaces for Affirm’s checkout and transaction systems.
• Own components of the checkout platform and define their long-term technical health.
• Improve the performance and reliability of systems supporting the customer purchasing journey.
• Collaborate with technical leaders and engineers across the organization on the next generation of the checkout platform.
• Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes across the platform.

Requirements

• Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Experience developing, testing, and shipping high-quality software at scale.
• Ability to make technical decisions, define projects, and take ownership of backend components.
• Clear written and verbal communication with a collaborative, customer-centric approach.
• Proficiency with Python, Kotlin, RPC, Redis, MySQL, AWS, and GitHub.
• Must reside in one of the listed Canadian provinces for this remote role.
