Associate Senior Counsel, Claim (Insurance Defense Litigation)

Location: Glendale, California, United States; travel required as needed to attend court events, depositions, and other business appointments.

Annual base salary: $120,400–$198,700, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Independently manage moderate- to high-complexity insurance defense cases, including potential Major Case litigation.
• Prepare and argue pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other substantive legal documents.
• Handle hearings, depositions, trials, court events, and settlement negotiations through verdict or resolution.
• Analyze cases and advise insured clients and Claims partners on file-handling and litigation strategies.
• Collaborate with expert witnesses and consultants to develop case strategies and prepare testimony.
• Mentor attorneys and legal support staff, provide legal training, and contribute to business-focused projects.

Requirements

• 5+ years of insurance defense litigation experience as a practicing attorney; the must-have section specifies at least 4 years of practicing attorney experience.
• Juris Doctorate or equivalent international legal degree from an accredited law school.
• Active license in good standing to practice law in the state or states where representation is required.
• Proven experience preparing or litigating jury trials, hearings, depositions, dispositive motions, or appellate matters.
• Strong legal research, writing, oral advocacy, negotiation, case analysis, and presentation skills.
• Ability to travel to court proceedings and other required appointments; a valid driver's license may be required depending on location.
