Associate IT System Administrator (Cybersecurity)

Location: Hybrid in Hanover, Maryland, with on-site work several days each week and remote work the rest

What you will do

• Install, configure, and maintain servers, workstations, network equipment, and virtualized environments across Windows and Linux.
• Administer Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory, Group Policy, user access, and endpoint permissions.
• Monitor system performance and availability, resolve infrastructure issues, and provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support.
• Manage patching, vulnerability remediation, endpoint protection, MFA, and least-privilege access.
• Maintain and regularly test backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes.
• Document systems and procedures, track assets and licenses, manage vendors, and automate routine IT tasks.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience in systems administration or a similar IT role.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and Intune.
• Networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and firewalls.
• Experience with VMware or Hyper-V virtualization and backup solutions.
• Strong troubleshooting, independent working, communication, and user-support skills.
• Ability to work on-site in Maryland several days each week; bachelor's degree in IT, computer science, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• CompTIA Security+, Microsoft MS-102 or AZ-104, MCSA, or MCSE certification.
• Scripting with PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
• Linux administration and Azure or AWS experience.
• Familiarity with ITIL, SOC 2, NIST, or similar frameworks.
• Interest in OT/ICS or critical infrastructure security.
