Director of Engineering

Location: United States; primarily remote with occasional travel of up to 25%

Salary: $195,000–$220,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead and develop solution engineering, data engineering, and customer support teams across onshore employees and offshore contractor partners.
• Define operating models, team handoffs, capacity plans, budgets, vendor relationships, and performance metrics.
• Lead technical discovery, solution design, demos, RFP/RFI responses, security questionnaires, and technical reviews during pre-sales.
• Own customer architecture views covering data sources, ingestion, integrations, outbound extracts, scope, assumptions, and delivery risk.
• Oversee post-go-live production support, issue triage, root cause analysis, SLAs, runbooks, escalation paths, and customer enhancement requests.
• Partner with Product, Infrastructure, Platform Engineering, Implementations, Sales, and Customer Success to improve reliability and resolve recurring issues.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in software or data engineering, including 5+ years leading engineering teams.
• Experience leading both customer-facing technical teams and technical support or production operations teams.
• Strong background in ETL/ELT pipelines, SQL, data modeling, and data quality.
• Experience with AWS services such as S3, Glue, Lambda, and Redshift or Snowflake, plus orchestration tools such as Airflow.
• Experience defining SLAs, support processes, ticketing workflows, and operational metrics.
• BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or another STEM-related field.

Nice to have

• SaaS, growth-stage, startup, consulting, solutions engineering, professional services, or client-facing technical delivery experience.
• Knowledge of specialty pharmacy, hub, distributor, payer, and life sciences commercial data ecosystems.
• Experience with platform migrations, major version upgrades, or PHI in HIPAA-regulated environments.
